Quarry

Highest quality aggregates for investments

Duna Polska owns the “Górka” Granite Quarry in Górka Sobocka, located 9 km from Strzelin. The natural stone extracted there is processed into high-quality construction and road aggregates, used both in our own projects and for external clients.

The specialty of the “Górka” Granite Quarry is the production of high-quality gravel suitable for the production of concrete and asphalt mixes. The granite extracted is also used to produce other assortments, such as crushed stone, gravel, continuous gradation aggregates, and fine aggregates. These materials are used in various applications, including prefabrication, specialized construction, road and railway building, and as durable airport pavements.

The “Górka” Quarry has access to a rail siding and can offer aggregate deliveries throughout Poland.

WE ENSURE THE HIGHEST QUALITY

We ensure the highest quality

Achieving the highest quality aggregates is made possible by constant monitoring of the individual production processes. The continuity of production and material quality is overseen by an experienced management team.

PRODUCTION PROCESS

Production process

From the selection of the exploitation site to the final quality control, every stage of production is carefully monitored to ensure the highest quality of materials delivered by Duna Polska. We use modern extraction and processing technologies that allow for precise adjustment of the aggregate properties to meet customer requirements.

LONG-STANDING TRADITION

Long-standing tradition

Górka Sobocka has been associated with local quarries for decades. Granite extraction in this area dates back to the Middle Ages, and the village of Górka was well-known in the Duchy of Wrocław, as granite from here was used in the construction of Wrocław’s churches at the turn of the 10th and 11th centuries. Some of the Romanesque walls of the former church in Górka were also built in the first half of the 12th century using local granite.

Reliable aggregates

“Górka” granite quarry – a longstanding stonemasonry tradition

The granite extracted from the “Górka” quarry stands out with excellent physical parameters, making it an ideal material for durable and strong construction.

  • Specific gravity: 2.68 g/m³
  • Bulk density: 2.59 g/cm³
  • Compressive strength: 1287 kg/cm² (126 MPa)
  • Abrasion resistance: 0.30 cm on the Boehme disc, 3.46% in the Deval drum
  • Water absorption: 0.53%
  • Frost resistance: Total frost resistance
  • Emulsification index: 0.16

The natural aggregates offered meet the requirements of current European standards:

  • PN-EN 12620 – Aggregates for concrete
  • PN-EN 13043 – Aggregates for bituminous mixtures and surface treatments used on roads, airports, and other traffic areas
  • PN-EN 13242 – Aggregates for unbound and hydraulically bound materials used in construction and road building
  • PN-EN 13383 – Stone for hydraulic engineering works

Each batch of material is issued with a CE marking document in system 2+.

The “Górka” quarry has implemented an internal Factory Production Control (FPC) system to monitor the quality of the products sold. Additionally, the final products are tested in the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Warsaw Technological Institute, FerroCarbo laboratory, TPA, BARG, and continuously in Duna Polska S.A.’s in-house laboratory.

The implemented and maintained FPC system guarantees the highest quality products.
